Patel Red Blend is a Merlot dominant blend with a proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec coming California's Napa Valley. Patel Winery is owned by India-born Raj Patel. He settled with his family in Northern California in 1972, where he had an internship at Robert Mondavi Winery, which would mark the beginning of his career in wine. Grapes are hand-picked, hand sorted, de-stemmed, crushed and transferred to small, open-top stainless-steel tanks to begin fermentation. Following an extended maceration, the fruit is pressed off and aged for around 22 months in a high proportion of new French oak barrels.
NOTES FROM VINOVOSS SOMMELIER
The Patel Red Blend has a deep ruby color with slight purple reflections. On the nose, it reveals enticing notes of ripe blackberries, dark blackcurrants, and plums, accompanied by hints of vanilla and baking spices. These aromas are further enhanced by subtle floral undertones of violets. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with plush tannins that provide a smooth and luxurious mouthfeel. The flavors perfectly mirror the aromas, with luscious dark fruits taking center stage. There is a perfect balance between the fruitiness and the oak influence, resulting in a wine that is both fruit-forward and complex with a persistent finish.
