Pagos de Aráiz Crianza is a dry, fruit forward, lightly oaked, blended red wine for immediate drinking. Pagos de Aráiz is a family owned winery based in the Spanish region of Navarra. Navarra neighbors the more famous region of Rioja but has greater freedoms when it comes to the grapes used in winemaking. This wine is a blend of the Spanish Tempranillo grape along with the international grapes Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are all handled on their own, undergoing maturation in older French and American oak before blending to create the final product. This supple dark fruited style offers great value for those seeking an oaked, medium bodied wine for everyday drinking.
NOTES FROM VINOVOSS SOMMELIER
Pagos de Aráiz Crianza is a blended dry red wine made from Tempranillo, Merlot, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Crianza elements means that the wine is matured for at least 2 years including at least 6 month in oak. This is a minimum and the producer can age the wine for longer before release. The wine shows a deep ruby colour in the glass and a mix of fresh and dried fruit in the glass. Expect notes of strawberry, plum, prune and blackberry. The palate is medium bodied with resolved firm tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is moderate in length with sweet baking spice notes from oak. This savoury style work well with sandwiches made from leftover sunday lunches and pizza. Drink within 5 years of purchase.

ORIGINS
Winery: Pagos de Aráiz
Region: Navarra
Navarra is a Spanish wine region located in the north of the country, just south of the Pyrenees Mountains. It is known for its rich history, diverse topography, and unique climate, which all contribute to the production of some of Spain's most distinctive wines.
Navarra has a long history of winemaking, starting with the ancient Romans, and continuing under the Moors and Christian rule. Demand for wine was also strengthened by the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia.
