Bodegas Alvear is the oldest operating winery in the Spanish region of Andalucia. It is located in the DO of Montilla Moriles, next door to the more famous region of Jerez. This wine is made from sun-dried Pedro Ximinez grapes resulting in a sweet base wine with flavors of raisins and chocolate. This base wine is then added to a Solera. While wine is bottled from the solera each year, the solera is never emptied and still maintains a fraction of each wine that has been added to it. This particular solera has been in operation since 1927 and produces a very complex wine with notes of coffee, creme brulee, and treacle. Alvear Solera is known for offering a harmonious balance of flavors and aromas. With its exceptional story and distinctive style, this wine is a must for those who enjoy the unusual.
