Well-balanced and graceful Bordeaux-style blend from Washington State, boasting a subtle level of body and tannins.

Savory and earthy seasoning blend, smoke blackberry mushroom salt adds depth and intricacy to various dishes.

Lush and well-rounded nose with plum and tobacco notes, augmented by cigar box and oak accents. The fruit-forward discovery is even by medium tannins and acidity, making it a refined and amiable wine. The high alcohol content adds density and complexity, but the lasting impression is surprisingly long and satisfying.

What the web is saying

Kiona Vineyards Reserve is praised for its rich, full-bodied Bordeaux blend with notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, and plum, complemented by oak and forest floor. While some find the high tannins and alcohol content add depth, others feel it can be overpowering. The wine's smooth finish and balance are consistently highlighted, making it a refined choice for those who enjoy bold, complex flavors.

Voss Experts4.5

The Kiona Vineyards Reserve presents a deep garnet hue, indicative of its concentrated character. On the nose, it reveals a symphony of ripe blackcurrant and dark cherry, interwoven with hints of cedar and subtle graphite, showcasing its refined complexity. The palate is full-bodied, with a velvety texture and well-structured tannins that provide a robust framework. Layers of plum and cassis are complemented by a touch of anise and a mineral undertone, leading to a long, elegant finish. This wine exemplifies the quintessential expression of Red Mountain terroir, offering both immediate appeal and potential for graceful aging.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.
