Kiona Vineyards is a wine producer on Red Mountain, where John Williams and Jim Holmes planted Kiona Estate in 1975. The 1980 vintage brought its first wine under the Kiona name and the USA’s first commercial Lemberger. John and Ann Williams moved into their Red Mountain house in 1983, opening a tasting room in the basement. The Williams family then purchased the Holmes family’s share of the winery in 1994 and divested from Ciel du Cheval.

In 2017, Kiona had 236.21 Red Mountain acres under vine. Its five estate Red Mountain sites are Kiona Estate, Heart of the Hill, Artz Vineyard, Ranch at the End of the Road and Sunset Bench. Artz Vineyard was purchased in 2019, while Sunset Bench serves as Kiona’s primary site for Red Mountain Malbec. Its wines include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Lemberger.
