Fontanassa Due Padri presents a deep garnet hue, indicative of its robust character. The bouquet unfolds with layers of dark cherry, blackcurrant, and a hint of dried herbs, seamlessly interwoven with subtle notes of cedar and spice. On the palate, it reveals a full-bodied structure, supported by velvety tannins and a vibrant acidity that provides balance and length. The mid-palate is rich with flavors of plum and a touch of graphite, leading to a long, elegant finish. This wine exemplifies the finesse and complexity typical of its region, offering both immediate appeal and potential for aging.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

Fontanassa Due Padri is a red wine crafted from the Barbera grape, grown in the rolling hills of Piedmont, Italy. The vineyard benefits from a continental climate with warm days and cool nights, promoting balanced acidity and ripe fruit flavors. The wine undergoes fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve its fresh, fruit-forward character, followed by aging in oak barrels to add depth and complexity. This results in a medium-bodied wine with vibrant red fruit notes, a hint of spice, and a smooth finish, ideal for pairing with hearty Italian dishes.
