Wine Description:
The vineyard Clos de Béru is the exclusive property of the estate. It's not classified as Premier Cru in Chablis only because, at the time of Count Eric de Béru's premature death, it was leased, and the family showed no interest in classification. Historically, Clos de Béru has always been perceived at the level of esteemed Premier Cru sites. Standing in the vineyard, the reason becomes evident – pure south-facing, gently sloping, yet sufficiently inclined, and very stony, representing the typical Kimmeridge soil. The boundaries were drawn by the monks along the terroir, resulting in an irregular trapezoidal shape for Clos. The wine is aged in tonneaux for the first year, followed by tank maturation.
Pros:
  • A complex and well-structured Chablis with a creamy texture and intense mineral notes

Cons:

Vaulorent, situated within Fourchaume, one of Chablis' renowned Premiers Crus, holds distinction as the sole Premier Cru on the Grand Cru hill, neighboring Grand Cru Les Preuses. Cultivated on Kimmeridgian soils, the Chardonnay undergoes natural yeast fermentation, with alcoholic fermentation and maturation on lees transpiring in oak for 14-15 months. The wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation. Aromatically, it exudes perfumed notes of fresh stone fruits—apricots, peaches, yellow apples—alongside lemon zest and a hint of clotted cream. On the palate, it reveals a creamy, full-bodied character, delightful upon release, and poised for graceful aging.
