Wine Description:
Sílice, crafted by Silice Viticultores in Amandi, Lugo within the Ribera Sacra region, epitomizes tradition and minimal intervention winemaking. Fredi Torres and brothers Carlos and Juan Rodríguez steward the vineyards nestled in the Amandi subzone. Their ethos echoes the past, favoring minimal intervention techniques. Composed primarily of 80% Mencía complemented by Merenzao, Albarello, and Garnacha Tintorera, Sílice is a testament to their commitment. Seventy percent of the grapes undergo destemming, while the remainder ferments whole in 5000-liter 'fudres'. Aged for nine months in the same fudre, Sílice emerges as a refined expression of Ribera Sacra's terroir and winemaking tradition.

Wine Expert Note:

On the nose, Silice Viticultores Tinto presents an enticing bouquet of ripe red fruits, such as cherries and raspberries, accompanied by subtle floral notes. There is also a delicate hint of spice, adding complexity to the aromatic profile. The palate is equally impressive, with a medium to full body that is both elegant and well-structured. Silky smooth tannins provide a velvety texture, while vibrant acidity brings freshness and balance to the wine. Flavors of red berries continue to dominate, complemented by hints of black pepper and a touch of earthiness. The finish is long and satisfying, leaving a lingering impression of fruit and spice on the palate. Silice Viticultores Tinto is a wine that can be enjoyed now, but also has the potential to age gracefully, allowing its flavors to further develop and evolve over time.
