Wine Expert Note:

The Wieland vineyard is one of the best locations in the Krems Valley. This vineyard is south-facing and therefore optimally protected from the west wind by other terraces. A elegant, ambitious Riesling fruit runs through this Riesling. A melting, very juicy wine with a well-balanced minerality on the finish. Its racy acidity in the background gives the wine a stable backbone. Pairs great with grilled seafood or spicy Asian cuisine. Drink now or keep for another decade.

Weingut Knoll's Loibner Riesling Smaragd emerges from the captivating slopes of Loibenberg, overlooking the Danube, ascending from 220 to 420 meters. Defined by ancient rock formations, predominantly Gneiss with intermittent layers of loess, the vineyards find their limits at the forest's edge. This Riesling, a testament to Wachau's winemaking prowess, reflects its terroir intricacies. The stony sections exude pronounced minerality, while those from loess-rich areas offer a softer, velvety allure. Introduced in 1986, Smaragd, denoting Wachau's finest, matures exclusively in the sun-soaked terraced vineyards during exceptional vintages. This wine, a symbol of physiological maturity, ages gracefully, a true embodiment of Wachau's winemaking tradition.
