Gros Ventre Chenin Blanc is praised for its blend of Asian pear, cantaloupe, and orange peel, with a bracing, dry character. While some appreciate its creamy texture and refreshing apple and lemon-lime notes, others find it too acidic with a tart apple and lime profile. The wine's balance and visual appeal make it suitable for special occasions.
This Chenin Blanc presents a luminous straw hue, heralding a bouquet of quince, honeysuckle, and a whisper of wet stone. On the palate, it unfolds with a vibrant interplay of ripe pear and citrus zest, underscored by a taut mineral backbone. The mid-palate reveals a subtle creaminess, balanced by a precise, racy acidity that carries through to a lingering finish of almond and saline nuances. Exemplifying the varietal's versatility, this wine captures the essence of its terroir, offering a refined expression that aligns with the Loire Valley benchmarks yet with a distinct Californian flair.
