WINE DESCRIPTION

Goedhart Bel' Villa Vineyard Syrah is a small-scale garage winemaking project of Sarah Goedhart, the winemaker for RedMountain stalwarts Hedges. Made exclusively from Syrah grapes grown in the Bel' Villa vineyard. The winemaking sees assertive extraction of color and tannins prior to maturation for more than 18 months in a mix of French and American oak barrels less than half of which are new. This is a rich, warming style of wine that shows a lingering smokiness on the palate and acts like a warm hug during a cold winter.

The Goedhart Bel' Villa Vineyard Syrah presents an inky purple color that hints at the concentrated mid-palate that is to come.The nose is of ripe black cherry and dried blueberries with an underlying hint of smoke. The palate is broad and full, with balanced acidity and velvety tannins that are well integrated. The finish is long and warming with complex notes of coconut and cedar. This wine can be enjoyed now for its richness but will develop meaty complexity over the next 8 years. Served with any red meat, cooked low and slow.
