Wine Description:
Domaine Jean-Louis Chave was founded in 1481 and remains in the hands of the founding family today. The family owns just over 10% of the famoul Hill of Hermitage and are considered the be the leading light of the appellation. This wine is 100% Syrah, blended from the lieu dits of Bessards and Le Meal in varying proportions depending upon vintage conditions. The wine is usually a masterpiece in balance, managing to be both intense in concentration but highly nuanced with well defined flavors at the same time. The wine is best approached after 10 years of cellaring, so this is a wine for the patient, but the rewards are great. Read more

Since its inception in 2001, the Cuvée du Baron pays homage to Baron Pierre Le Roy de Boiseaumarié, celebrating his legacy with a blend that champions Grenache and Syrah, epitomizing the essence of our terroir. Hand-harvested and sorted meticulously on-site, each bunch is delicately transported to maintain pristine condition and prevent oxidation. With 90% destemming, the grapes transition to concrete or stainless steel vats, undergoing fermentation and a prolonged maceration of 4 to 5 weeks for optimal extraction. A graceful aging period of 18 to 24 months in casks allows the wine to evolve harmoniously, culminating in a testament to time and tradition.
