Wine Expert Note:

Deaver Barbera has a deep ruby color with a magenta rim. On the nose, you can expect vibrant aromas of ripe dark fruits such as black cherries and plum, accompanied by hints of anise, licorice and earthiness. The palate offers a fine balance between the fruit flavors and the acidity. The wine is smooth, focussed on blackberries, plum and succulent black cherries. The fruit flavors are accompanied by notes of Chinese five spice and pepper that add an exotic dimension to lingering finish.

The wine is made from a blend of indigenous varieties that give a spectrum of red fruit flavors. The wine is made using a combination of bleeding off of a red wine (saignée) and by direct press giving a medium pink hue. The wine is aged for a short period in stainless steel vats prior to bottling and release.
