Château Lascombes Margaux is a prestigious Duexieme Grand Cru Classé estate located in the appellation of Margaux, in Bordeaux, France. In the 1950s, the push to expand the estate led to the addition of multiple parcels of vines that were of lower quality. This problem was partially resolved during the 1970s when many of the vineyards were replanted to varieties the soil was most suited to, leading to a predominance of Merlot on the estate followed by Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. In the early 2000s, must concentration and the use of a high proportion of new oak led to many vintages with powerful expressions. Whilst Lascombes still produces a powerful style of Margaux with bold use of oak, the style is gradually becoming more elegant. This is a good choice for enthusiasts of California wines seeking to enjoy Bordeaux.
