1583 Albariño de Fefiñanes is a dry, oaked influenced, expression of the Albarino grape intended to be enjoyed over the medium term. Bodegas del Palacio de Fefiñanes is one of the oldest producers in the region, established in 1904 and housed in a 17th century Palace. The 1583 in this wine references the birth year of the erector of the Palace. Fruit is sourced through out Rias Baixas with a focus on the Val do Salnes. The wine is fermented in used oak barrels from Bordeaux and the wine is oak matured with monthly batonnage for several months before blending and bottling. The oak use results is a broader palate texture and a richer mouthfeel which are nicely balanced by the hallmark acidity of Albarino. This is a good choice for regular Albarino drinkers who are looking for the next step or for drinkers of white Burgundy who are looking for more options.
