Wine Description:
Clemens Busch Vom Grauen Schiefer Riesling is grown on steep, south-west facing sloped vineyards in Pünderich, on the right bank of the Mosel river. Here the soil is comprised of grey slate or Grauen Schiefer. Grapes are handpicked and gently pressed into old ‘fuder’ oak barrels that contributes textural breadth and mid-palate weigh. The wine ferments slowly with wild yeasts adding complexity and nuance to the wine. After several months of full lees contact, the wine is racked and kept on fine lees until bottling two years later. Wine Expert Note:

Clemens Busch Vom Grauen Schiefer shows a high level of finesse and elegance opening with enticing notes of ripe stone fruits, such as peach and apricot, accompanied by hints of citrus and floral undertones. These aromas are beautifully complemented by a subtle minerality, which is a hallmark of wines produced from the Grauen Schiefer vineyard. The palate of Clemens Busch Vom Grauen Schiefer is equally impressive. It displays a perfect balance of elegance and freshness delivered. The flavors are vibrant and well-defined, with a pronounced minerality that is complemented by a zesty acidity. The wine finishes with a long, lingering aftertaste focussed on slatey minerality and tart citrus and pomaceous fruit. Read more
