Ceretto Barolo 2018

Rich and engaging wine with a dry, high bracing quality profile. The silky and ripe tanin provides a polished texture, while the flavors of raspberry, cherry, cranberry, and red plum add profoundness and complexity. The light wisp of lavender and cedar adds a sophisticated nuance, complementing the game and mushroom notes. The ending is long and satisfying, with a hint of opaque chocolate that continues on the palate. Overall, a well-balanced and refined wine that rewards careful consideration.

Second time caretto Barolo, I'm not convinced this feels young. 2018 lacks the explosive black fruit of 2016, so I believe it will take time to mature, and it tastes like it. It's extremely dry, with a slightly sharp, unbalanced finish. I would recommend waiting 5 years for the Nebbiolo to reach its full potential. I'll be keeping an eye on it, but I'm not optimistic.

The wine's velvety consistency and supple leather accents on the nose evoke a sense of luxury and refinement, as its classic opaque raspberry and earthen subtle flavors add complexity and complexity. As it ages, the wine reveals a delicate smoothness, making it a perfect pairing for hearty red meats and bold flavor profiles over a multi-course meal.
