Promontory is a prestigious Napa Valley winery known for its high-priced Cabernet Sauvignon. Acquired by the Harlan family in 2008, the property spans 840 acres in Oakville. Despite producing only one Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is a complex blend due to variations in soil, exposure, and elevation. Up to 70 passes are made through the vineyard to harvest fruit at the perfect ripeness, resulting in over 30 distinct component wines aged in barrels for a year before blending. The final blend ages for several more years in large Austrian oak casks. In 2017, a modern winery was opened, designed for both production and visitor experiences, in contrast to the family's other labels.
