Smallfry

Smallfry is the wine partnership of Suzi Hilder and Wayne Ahrens, with vineyards in Eden Valley and Vine Vale. Their partnership extends to both business and life, and Wayne is the winemaker.

They established the Eden Valley vineyard in 1994; it covers 12 hectares at 450 metres, growing varieties including Riesling, Shiraz and Viognier. Their 18-hectare Vine Vale vineyard was the Schlieb family seat for generations, and its plantings include Grenache, Carignan and Semillon. Both vineyards and the winery were certified organic and biodynamic as of April 2014. Winemaking combines natural ferments, little or no adjustment and old oak with a gentle approach in the cellar.
