Paolo Conterno

In 1886, Paolo Conterno founded Casa della Ginestra, establishing an estate that has been run by the Conterno family across four generations. Paolo was succeeded by his son Carlo and his wife Giuseppina. The company was later run by Paolo and Caterina Conterno, and is managed by their son Giorgio Conterno. The property comprises ten hectares or so of calcareous-clayey loam, where the Ginestra vineyard slopes sit at 300 to 350 meters altitude on slopes of up to 38%, mainly south and southeast-facing. Winemaking uses the traditional method of vertical tanks with the grape husk crust broken by letting the must drop, and ageing in 35-hectolitre French oak barrels, with an annual production of around 80,000 bottles.
