Michele Chiarlo began as a wine producer in 1956, and the first vintage of Barolo bottled under the Michele Chiarlo name was 1958. Later, Michele's sons Stefano and Alberto entered the winery, with Stefano handling agricultural and oenological management and Alberto overseeing sales and marketing. Michele Chiarlo passed away in 2023, and the estate continues as a family winery managed by Stefano and Alberto Chiarlo.

In 1972, a larger and more rational facility was built in Calamandrana, and in 1974, Michele Chiarlo was among the first to produce a Barbera with malolactic fermentation. In 1995, Michele Chiarlo acquired Tenuta La Court, 20 hectares in Castelnuovo Calcea. The estate encompasses 110 hectares of vineyards across Langhe, Monferrato, and Gavi, focusing exclusively on native grape varieties, and its wines include Barolo and Barbera.
On VinoVoss, Michele Chiarlo has 5 wines in stock: 4 red, 1 sparkling. Their average rating is 3.9 out of 5 from 1,125 ratings.
