Montemelino has been run as a farm since 1961. The farm was managed by Margret with Guido originally, and is run by Sabina, Margret's daughter, along with Pier.

The estate is an organic farm of about 60 hectares, located on the northern hills overlooking Lake Trasimeno, between Umbria and Tuscany, at around 300 meters elevation. Part of the Colli del Trasimeno wine production territory, its vineyards cover approximately 9 hectares and form a single contiguous block situated all around the house and cellars. Vines use a traditional training system of either Guyot or spurred cordon depending on the variety, with yields of about 50/60 quintals per hectare. Bunch thinning is performed to reduce yield per vine and rebalance vegetative and productive development. Grapes are harvested by hand, and hand tying and pruning are also practiced. Inter-row grassing is used to reduce erosion and encourage biodiversity, while the under-row is worked following organic farming principles. Only grapes from their own vineyards are vinified in the company.
