Lo Zoccolaio

Lo Zoccolaio is a wine producer and Villalanata brand with a farmhouse in Bricco di Barolo. The farmhouse shares its name with the locality and owes that name to a wooden shoemaker who lived there.

The estate owns 30 hectares of vineyards, including 14 planted to Nebbiolo for Barolo, with holdings in Barolo, Ornate in Monforte d’Alba, Verduno and Ravera in Novello. On the slope of Bricco Barolo rising from Barolo castle towards Monforte, the vineyards face south-west. Grapes are harvested by hand, with bunch selection, and the estate makes exclusively red wines from its own grapes. In the cellar, winemaking has moved from barriques back to larger wooden casks. Its wines include the black-label Ravera cru, produced from vineyards in Ravera in Novello.
