Ziereisen Lügle 2019

The wine's nose is quite dry, with a trace of orange peel and citrus notes. On the palate, it's compact and not as full-bodied as its 2015 counterpart.

I've been intrigued by Hanspeter Ziereisen's work for some time, and his Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc) is my first from him. Located in the south of Markgräflerland, Baden, just across the Rhine from Alsace, this wine boasts biodynamic low yields, 22 months on neutral oak, and unfiltered bottling. The nose reveals a detailed blend of chalk, gravel, pear, citrus, and nuts, with a full mouthfeel that balances crispness with high acidity. The conclusion is long and satisfying, with ripe pear and unripe peach layers lingering on. while the winery is not a VDP-certified estate, this wine is still of high quality, and I would recommend it as a basic Landwein.

Subtle and sophisticated glassware experience, elegantly complementing the wine's elegant and graceful character. The nuanced nuances of citrus and white flowers are skillfully harmonious by a lively and bracing acidity, even as a dry finish adds layers and richness to the overall package. A well-crafted and highly regarded wine, with a price tag that reflects its fantastic quality.
