This opulent Recioto Amarone showcases a deep garnet hue, exuding a bouquet of ripe black cherry, fig, and dark chocolate, underscored by hints of dried herbs and anise. The palate is luxuriously rich and velvety, with a harmonious interplay of sweet, concentrated fruit and finely integrated tannins. A vibrant acidity provides balance, while nuances of espresso and dried plum emerge on the lingering finish. This wine exemplifies the classic Veneto style, offering both depth and elegance, making it a superb choice for pairing with rich desserts or enjoying as a contemplative after-dinner indulgence.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

Masi Campolongo di Torbe Recioto Amarone is crafted from grapes grown in the historic Campolongo di Torbe vineyard, located in the Valpolicella region of Italy. The vineyard benefits from a mild climate, with cooling breezes that help maintain acidity. The wine is made using the traditional appassimento method, where grapes are partially dried before fermentation, concentrating their flavors. This process results in a rich, full-bodied wine with notes of dried fruit and spice. Aged in oak barrels, it develops a complex structure with balanced sweetness and acidity, making it suitable for aging or immediate enjoyment.
