A sophisticated evening in Taormina, Sicily, with Links Girls, paired with a fine wine in a elegant decanter, for a memorable dinner experience.

Well-balanced Nero with a medium body, controlled acidity, and soft tannins. during it has a agreeable flavor profile, it falls short of my expectations, with whispers of wet cement, candied blackberry, and elderberry. A solid choice, but I prefer the 2018 Di Giovanna from Sambuca di Sicilia.

A smoky wine with a hint of spice, but nothing in particular remarkable.

What the web is saying

Gurrieri Nero d'Avola offers a well-balanced profile with elegant cherry and plum notes, harmonious complexity, and a long finish. While some appreciate its soft tannins and managed heat, others find it unremarkable, noting unexpected wet cement undertones. Opinions vary, with several reviewers preferring other vintages.

Voss Experts4.5

The Gurrieri Nero d'Avola opens with an inviting bouquet of dark cherry and ripe plum, intermingled with hints of spice and subtle earthy undertones. On the palate, it reveals a medium body, where the bold dark fruit flavors are complemented by a touch of licorice and anise, creating a rich and layered experience. The tannins are well-integrated, providing structure without being overwhelming, while a refreshing acidity adds brightness and balance. As it lingers, nuances of dried herbs and a whisper of licorice emerge on the finish.
