A full bodied and crisp blend with a high level of acidity, yet still boasting excellent broadly quality.

Bordeaux blend that's a bit of a mixed bag, but still a great investment for the price. The nose is centered around by cedar, black currant, and plum, with a undertone of spice and oak. The mouthfeel is similarly divided, with oak and black pepper taking center stage, refined by a touch of vanilla and a lingering finish.

What the web is saying

De Toren Z is praised for its rich, full-bodied character with notes of plum, blackberry, and oak. Many appreciate its smooth tannins and complex layers, while some find it lacks the sophistication of a true Bordeaux. The wine's balance of fruit and spice, along with its long, rewarding finish, is consistently highlighted. Opinions vary on its boldness, with some noting a shift towards more oakiness in recent vintages.

Voss Experts4.8

This South African red blend from De Toren is a complex and intense wine with aromas of black currant, cassis and black cherry, as well as hints of dried herbs, forest floor and cedar. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and rich, with a firm tannic structure and good acidity that leads to a long, lingering finish. The dark fruit flavors are complimented by notes of licorice, forest floor, and roasted coffee, while subtle oak nuances provide additional complexity. Enjoy this wine now, or cellar for up to 10 years.
