Voss Expert4.5/5

Voss Expert tasting note

Displaying a luminous straw hue, the Blackbilly Chardonnay opens with an aromatic bouquet of ripe stone fruits, notably white peach and nectarine, interwoven with nuances of toasted almond and subtle flint. On the palate, this wine reveals a harmonious balance of creamy texture and vibrant acidity, underscored by layers of citrus zest and a whisper of honeysuckle. The oak integration is deft, contributing a gentle vanilla spice that complements the fruit-driven core. A medium-bodied expression, it concludes with a refined, mineral-laden finish, positioning it as a commendable example of contemporary Australian Chardonnay.

Blackbilly Chardonnay is crafted from grapes grown in the cool climate regions of South Australia, where maritime influences provide ideal conditions for balanced ripening. This Chardonnay undergoes partial barrel fermentation in French oak, imparting subtle toasty notes and enhancing its creamy texture. The wine showcases vibrant citrus and stone fruit flavors, complemented by a crisp acidity that ensures a refreshing finish. Designed to be enjoyed young, this Chardonnay offers an approachable style with a harmonious blend of fruit and oak, suitable for pairing with a variety of dishes or savoring on its own.
