Volpaia is a wine estate in the Chianti Classico area. The first documents mentioning the place date to 1172, and the Florentine Della Volpaia family, whose members included artists and makers of sundials and armillary spheres, originated there. The estate, Castello di Volpaia, belongs to the Mascheroni Stianti family. Its approximately 45 hectares of vineyards lie above 400 metres above sea level, and its wines are produced using organic farming. The estate also carried out clonal selection that led to the rediscovery and regrafting of ancient indigenous Sangiovese vines. Its wines include three crus: Coltassala, Il Puro and Balifico.
On VinoVoss, Volpaia has 6 wines in stock: 6 red. Their average rating is 3.9 out of 5 from 404 ratings.
