In the 1960s, Val di Suga's estate on Montalcino's northern slope gradually converted land from arable crops to vineyards. The first harvest was in 1973, and the first label under the Val di Suga brand was commercialized in 1975. Cru Vigna del Lago was born in 1983 from a single vineyard between the lake and the cellar on the northern slope of Montalcino. Cru Vigna Spuntali was born in 1988 from a new 15-hectare acquisition on the south-west slope of Montalcino facing the sea. In 1994, Val di Suga passed into the ownership of Tenimenti Angelini. In 2009, Cru Poggio al Granchio was born from a new 20-hectare acquisition on the south-east slope of Montalcino near Monte Amiata.

Val di Suga produces Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino wines. It uses three separate aging areas equipped with 25-hl oval casks, barriques, 60-hl truncated conical casks, and 44-hl oval casks.
