In the early 1900s, Tenuta Il Poggione was among the first to market Brunello di Montalcino and was a founding member of the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino.

Located in Sant'Angelo in Colle, about 10 km south of Montalcino, the estate covers 530 hectares total, with 140 hectares of vineyards and 50 hectares of olive groves. Situated between 150 and 450 meters above sea level, the vineyards grow Sangiovese, cultivated through sustainable agriculture with limited use of phytosanitary products, manual harvesting and vineyard work, and green harvesting. Vigna Paganelli was planted in 1964 on an alluvial terrace with east-west exposure, trained using the doppio capovolto system. A new winery was built in 2004, where fermentation takes place at controlled temperature with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks using the submerged cap technique. Aging takes place five meters underground beneath the vinification cellar in large casks made from French oak seasoned outdoors for at least 4 years. Its wines include Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, produced from Vigna Paganelli.
On VinoVoss, Tenuta Il Poggione has 4 wines in stock: 4 red. Their average rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 1,313 ratings.
