Quinta da Romaneira was officially registered in 1757 during the Pombaline demarcations, and the estate later appeared under the name Quinta dos Reis on the Baron of Forrester's 1843 map. Father Vilaça Bacelar inherited the Romaneira lands in 1844, and Arnaldo Dias Monteiro de Barros bought Romaneira in 1942, expanding it by integrating several neighboring estates.

Located in Cotas, between Pinhão and Alijó, in the heart of Cima Corgo by the Douro river, the estate covers 412 hectares with 3 kilometers of frontage along the Douro River. It has 86 planted hectares of vineyards, which are planted mainly to Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz, and Tinto Cão, alongside white varieties Gouveio, Viosinho, Boal, and Rabigato, plus several hectares of Syrah and Petit Verdot. All wines are produced exclusively from grapes grown on the estate vineyard; the vat room is equipped with stainless steel temperature-controlled conical vats, and the winery uses temperature-controlled stainless steel lagares for foot treading Port grapes.
