The year 1994 was the first vintage of Poggio di Sotto Rosso di Montalcino, and the first vintage of Brunello di Montalcino Riserva was released in 1995. In 2011, Claudio Tipa acquired Poggio di Sotto. In 2012–2013, the estate began an ampelographic study that would catalog 182 distinct clones among its vines. The estate is located in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, Montalcino, with 48 hectares total and 20 hectares of vineyards under organic farming. The vineyards date back to before the 1970s and form a single parcel around the winery, situated at altitudes between 190 and 440 meters on the slopes of Monte Amiata. Only Sangiovese is cultivated, with no white or international grape varieties planted, and old Sangiovese vines can exceed 50 years of age. Its wines include Brunello di Montalcino, Poggio di Sotto Rosso di Montalcino, and Brunello di Montalcino Riserva.
