Podere Ciona

Podere Ciona is a winery near Gaiole in Chianti, owned and operated by the Gatteschi family. After several years working abroad, Franca and Franco Gatteschi sought a countryside retirement home and purchased the estate at the beginning of 1990, immediately beginning reconstruction of the main house. They moved to the estate full-time in 1996. Between 2000 and 2003, the Gatteschis decided to replant all available land with vines and build a new wine cellar for increased production.

The vineyards sit on a hilltop between 490 and 625 meters above sea level. Its wines include Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva, which became the estate’s first official wine with the 1997 vintage.
