Moccagatta is a winery in the Langhe’s Barbaresco area, founded by Mario in 1952 after splitting his father’s property with his brother. Its name comes from the Moncagatta family, who inhabited the hill until the early 1800s. The Minuto family acquired the land in the mid-1800s, and Luigi built a new cellar in 1913 and expanded the sales network. In the 1970s, Franco and Sergio, fathers of Stefano and Martina respectively, began making wine and invested in modern winemaking equipment. The vineyards lie in the Langhe south of the Tanaro River, at elevations between 210 and 300 metres. Their soil contains fossil Sant’Agata marls rich in clay and limestone. Vineyard care includes pruning and summer bunch thinning to balance production. Its wines include Barbaresco, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Chardonnay.
On VinoVoss, Moccagatta has 2 wines in stock: 2 red. Their average rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 57 ratings.
