Marchesi di Barolo is a winery in Barolo, in the Langhe. Juliette and Carlo Tancredi married in Versailles in 1806. In 1814, Juliette adopted the Italian name Giulia, and the couple expanded Cascina del Pilone with underground cellars for Nebbiolo. Giulia died in 1864, leaving her holdings, including the cellars, to Opera Pia Barolo. In 1929, Pietro Abbona and his siblings Ernesto, Marina and Celestina acquired the cellars and settled at Cascina del Pilone. In 1933, King Vittorio Emanuele III granted Pietro permission to display the Royal Coat of Arms on the winery’s sign.

In 1973, the winery vinified the Barolo crus Cannubi, Coste di Rose and Sarmassa separately. Giulia’s five historic casks were restored in 2002 for Barolo ageing. Marchesi di Barolo acquired Cascina Bruciata in Barbaresco in 2016 and Cascina Colombera in Perno in 2022. Its wines include Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera, Nebbiolo and Dolcetto.
