La Certosa di Belriguardo was built in 1348 by Catholic monks who settled in the area and began producing wine starting from the sixteenth century AD. The estate has always been a property of the Nannini family, which is a historic Senese name. In 2006, Gianna Nannini took over the family estate as its owner. La Certosa di Belriguardo is located 7 km from Siena, in the Chianti dei Colli Senesi area. The estate covers an area of 75 hectares, with 8 hectares planted with vines. The primary focus of the estate is the Sangiovese grape variety. The estate has abandoned the use of synthetic fertilizers as well as herbicides, and it is in organic conversion. In addition, pruning and harvesting of the vines are done entirely by hand.
