About Charles Smith
Charles Smith is a winery founded by winemaker Charles Smith. In 1999, during a road trip to Walla Walla, Washington, he met a winemaker who convinced him to start making wine true to his own story and vision. In 2001, he released the first 330 cases of his debut vintage.
The winery’s red wines follow the blueprint established by Smith, undergoing extended maceration on the skins, with no racking after malolactic fermentation is finished. For its white wines, the winery forgoes battonage, and the wines are fined and filtered for stability.
