E. Pira & Figli traces its history to the Pira family, recorded as grape growers in parish registers dating back to the 17th century, who turned to winemaking between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Gigi Pira blended grapes from his Cannubi, San Lorenzo, and Via Nuova plots to craft his wines. Since 1980, continuity of the estate has been managed by Chiara Boschis and her parents Franco and Ida. Chiara Boschis became one of the first female Barolo winemakers by the late 1980s, and her brother Giorgio joined her in ownership of the estate in 2010.

The estate encompasses approximately 11 hectares across Barolo, Monforte d'Alba, and Serralunga d'Alba. Farming is organic with manual vineyard work, certified organic starting from the 2014 vintage. Annual production is around 40,000 bottles exclusively from estate-grown grapes. Bottling is carried out without filtration or fining, except for a light filtration on Dolcetto. Its wines include Barolo Cannubi, Barolo Mosconi, Barolo Via Nuova, Barbera d'Alba, Langhe Nebbiolo, and Dolcetto d'Alba.
