The history of Combier began in 1936, when Laurent Combier's grandfather Camille bought a property in La Roche de Glun with 3 hectares of vines and 4 hectares of apricot trees. In the 1960s, Laurent's parents Maurice and Paulette settled as farmers in the neighboring commune of Pont de l'Isère. Starting in 1970, Maurice and Paulette Combier adopted organic farming across both arboriculture and viticulture. In 1990, Laurent Combier and his wife Ghislaine took over the estate, which then had 5 hectares of vineyards and 15 hectares of fruit orchards. With support from his parents, Laurent Combier built his own vinification and aging cellar for the estate. In the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, its wines include Clos des Grives.
