Badia a Coltibuono was founded in 1051 by the Vallombrosan monks of Giovanni Gualberto, becoming a center for agricultural activity in the Chianti region. In 1846, following the Napoleonic suppressions of the early 19th century, the ancient abbey and its surrounding farmland were purchased by Florentine banker Michele Giuntini. Starting in the 1930s, the estate was managed by Maria Luisa Giuntini. She was joined in the 1950s by her son, Piero Stucchi Prinetti, who played a key role in establishing the international reputation of the estate's Chianti Classico.

The estate is located in Gaiole in Chianti, set in 800 hectares of centuries-old forest. Its agriculture consists of organic wine and olive oil production. Situated in Chianti Classico, its wines include Chianti Classico.
On VinoVoss, Coltibuono has 4 wines in stock: 4 red. Their average rating is 3.8 out of 5 from 145 ratings.
