Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona traces its origins to the 17th century and a palazzo built by Bishop Fabivs de' Vecchis, Abbot of Sant'Antimo. Countess Eva Bernini Cerretani bought the property in 1868 and sold it to the Ciacci family in 1877. The marriage of Count Alberto Piccolomini d'Aragona and Elda Ciacci in the first half of the 20th century gave the palazzo the name Palazzo Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona. In 1985, the estate was bequeathed to Giuseppe Bianchini, its long-time estate factor. His children Paolo and Lucia Bianchini are co-owners.

The estate lies southeast of Montalcino, near Castelnuovo dell'Abate and the Romanesque abbey of Sant'Antimo. It covers about 195 hectares, including 50 hectares of vineyards and nearly 30 hectares of olive groves. Sangiovese grosso vines are trained using spurred cordons on medium-textured galestro soils of Eocene origin. Its Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Pianrosso and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva Vigna di Pianrosso Santa Caterina d'Oro both come from a single vineyard.
