Abbona was founded by the first Marziano Abbona and his son Celso. Following Celso's death in 1964, the estate passed to his sons Marziano and Enrico Abbona. Marziano's daughter Mara joined in 1999, and his youngest daughter Chiara joined alongside her sister. Construction of the Marziano Abbona winery began in 2004, and it was inaugurated in 2006.

The estate's vineyards cover 52 hectares, including approximately 4 hectares in the Ravera cru in Novello. Celso planted Bricco Doriolo in the Santa Lucia hamlet of Dogliani. Many vineyards are worked by hand and contain vines up to 60 years old. Sustainable vineyard management includes minimal treatments, cover cropping and no systemic pesticides. Wines include Papà Celso Dogliani Docg, Metodo Classico sparkling wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown in Dogliani, and Cinerino, a Langhe Doc Bianco made from Viognier.
On VinoVoss, Abbona has 3 wines in stock: 3 red. Their average rating is 3.9 out of 5 from 72 ratings.
