I've recently switched to a Kiwi Pinot Gris, following the advice of genuine Kiwis. This white wine is surprisingly closed, with a sweet and syrupy body on the palate. However, it lacks bracing quality when opened, and it takes a good half hour for the tones to come together. As the wine opens, the brightness is released, and the suggestions balance nicely. The wine is also decadent in stone fruits and has a comforting tartness on the tip of the tongue, finishing with a savory note that remains for a fairly long time.

The wine's lively and fruity character is well-balanced, with a peach and citrus note that adds a satisfying freshness to the palate. The dryness is a welcome relief, making it a ideal pairing for seafood dishes.

Zephyr Pinot Gris is appreciated for its apple, tree fruit, and stone fruit flavors, with a rich color and a balance of sweetness and tartness. While some find it closed and syrupy initially, others enjoy its lively, fruity character with citrus and mineral notes. The wine is best enjoyed after it opens up, offering a crisp finish and a savory note.
The Zephyr Pinot Gris presents a pale straw hue with a silvery sheen, indicative of its youthful vibrancy. On the nose, it unfurls a bouquet of ripe pear, white peach, and a whisper of honeysuckle, underscored by a subtle minerality. The palate is medium-bodied, showcasing a harmonious interplay between its crisp acidity and a gentle, creamy texture. Flavors of quince and citrus zest are elegantly balanced, leading to a clean, refreshing finish with a hint of almond. This Pinot Gris exemplifies the finesse and clarity typical of Marlborough's cool-climate expressions, making it a compelling choice for discerning palates.
