Rocca Giovanni Ravera di Monforte Barolo 2020

A intricate and curious nose with tobacco, oak, and vanilla notes, accompanied by a decadent leather undertone.

Luscious and rich wine with a deep, gentle texture. The nose is dominated by whispers of cherry and vanilla, with a subtle oak influence. The tasting is balanced, with a balanced blend of oak, berry, and earthy leather flavors. A rewarding finish, with a smooth, medium-bodied texture. A well-crafted wine that would be satisfying to revisit.

Wine that exudes a rich, soft feel and a complex, layered profile, with layers of plum, chocolate, and violet that evoke a sense of luxury and sophistication. The tannins are firm and grippy, providing a sense of composition and balance. As it opens up, the wine reveals a more nuanced character, with notes of licorice, spices, and mushrooms adding complexity and complexity. The tanginess is vibrant and refreshing, in contrast the body is full and imposing. Overall, this wine is a masterclass in cohesion and restraint, with a sense of elegance and power that belies its strong character. A true Barolo, if not a Bordeaux.
