Lively and fruity summer wine with a distinct almond note, graceful by a slightly bitter finish, yielding a score of 16.5/20.

Bright and fruit-forward blend with a medium body, featuring tropical fruit and herbaceous notes. The impression is dominated by citrus flavors, primarily lemon and mango, with a delicate sweetness. The ending is clean and refreshing, with a touch of minerality. Overall, a pleasing and easy-drinking wine, but one that doesn't in particular stand out on its own. I prefer it when paired with lighter fare, such as seafood or salads. A decent effort, but not a standout.

What the web is saying

Punica Samas is praised for its crisp citrus notes, tropical fruit flavors, and refreshing minerality, making it a versatile pairing for seafood. While many appreciate its balanced structure and clean finish, some find it lacks distinction or note slight bitterness. Reviews highlight Vermentino-Chardonnay blends with herbal undertones, though occasional mentions of fizzy texture show minor inconsistencies.

Voss Experts4.5

This Sardinian gem, Punica Samas, presents a luminous straw hue, revealing its Mediterranean origins. The nose is an intricate tapestry of ripe peach, honeysuckle, and a whisper of saline minerality, evoking coastal breezes. On the palate, it unfolds with a harmonious blend of vibrant acidity and a creamy texture, showcasing flavors of apricot, lemon zest, and a subtle hint of almond. The finish is elegantly persistent, marked by a refreshing salinity and a gentle floral lift. This wine exemplifies the finesse and complexity of Sardinian whites, offering a compelling expression of Vermentino's potential.
