Majuelos Colleción Monte Obispo presents a deep garnet hue, indicative of its robust character. The nose is a symphony of black cherry, dried fig, and a hint of cedar, underscored by a mineral edge that speaks to its terroir. On the palate, this wine is full-bodied with a velvety texture, revealing layers of dark chocolate, plum, and a whisper of anise, all framed by well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and complex, with a persistent echo of graphite and a touch of dried herbs. This wine exemplifies the finesse and depth characteristic of its region.

We are 50+ wine professionals (sommeliers, buyers, MW candidates) across the US, UK, France, Greece, Italy, and beyond. We review wines via blind tastings with a standardized rubric, using both 100-point and 5-star scales.

Majuelos Colleción Monte Obispo is crafted from grapes grown in the high-altitude vineyards of Spain's Bierzo region, where the cool climate and mineral-rich soils contribute to its distinct character. This wine is made from the Mencía grape, known for its vibrant acidity and red fruit profile. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness, followed by a period of aging in neutral oak barrels to enhance complexity without overpowering the fruit. The result is a balanced wine with bright cherry and plum notes, supported by a subtle earthiness, suitable for immediate enjoyment or short-term cellaring.
