Higuchi

Roopy
Fitting conclusion to a long day, this wine has finally succumbed to the passage of time. Despite being stored in optimal conditions, it has succumbed to the ravages of age, its cork having dried out. A bitter end to a frustrating experience, one that was exacerbated by poor storage prior to its arrival. A wine that has been left to sit, its potential unfulfilled. A disappointing conclusion to a long day.
Osvalds
Well-preserved bottle of nebbiolo, having been stored for three years, now offers excellent value. The nose is shaped by a rich, aromatic bouquet, with accents of floral, leafy, and forest floor elements, enhanced by the presence of mushroom, anise, and nutmeg. On the palate, the wine displays a cohesive symmetry of juicy, ripe fruit, with a sweet licorice and tea-like finish, accompanied by vibrant bracing quality and soft tannins. A well suited pairing for slow-cooked lamb shanks.

Francesco Rinaldi & Figli Barolo is praised for its rich, complex flavors and aromas, including notes of red fruit, forest floor, and leather. It offers a smooth, velvety texture with well-integrated tannins. While some vintages are celebrated for their elegance and aging potential, others, particularly older ones, may suffer from oxidation. The wine is often described as balanced and full-bodied, making it a favorite among enthusiasts.

On the palate, it has robust tannins and flavors of ripe red fruit, blackberry, and woodsy notes. The finish is long and lingering, with hints of licorice and forest floor. Overall, this is a classic and well-structured Barolo that pairs nicely with hearty dishes.
