Ferraton Père & Fils Condrieu Les Mandouls 2023

Rich, full-bodied wine with a deep, mellow texture. The colour is a deep, bold red, and the body is substantial and weighty. The brightness is noticeable, but not overpowering, and the fruit flavours are not yet fully developed on the nose or the palate. Overall, the wine is not as smooth as I had hoped.

A nuanced and restrained wine experience, with honeysuckle and butter tones that were somewhat underplayed, consistent by a undertone of minerality and spiciness. The taste was full bodied and full-bodied, with a restrained approach that belied a rich and alluring character. while I would have appreciated the peach and apricot notes, which were noticeably absent, I suspect this wine was better suited for a later sipping experience. A worthwhile exploration, but perhaps one that warrants a bit more time to appreciate its subtleties.
