Delicate and nuanced wine, demonstrating the subtleties of its grape variety. The citrus and green apple notes are well-balanced, whereas the hi freshness provides a crisp quality. The addition of white pepper and stone fruits as the wine warms up adds intensity and complexity, making it a enjoyable conclusion to the tasting.

What the web is saying

This Grüner Veltliner offers a crisp, well-balanced profile with prominent citrus and green apple notes, complemented by subtle white pepper and mineral undertones. While praised for its clean acidity and food-friendly character (particularly with seafood), some reviews note occasional astringency and varying intensity of fruit expression. The wine shows good aging potential with petrol notes developing in older vintages.

Voss Experts4.5

Displaying a luminous straw hue, the Donabaum Grüner Veltliner opens with a bouquet of white pepper, ripe pear, and a hint of flinty minerality, characteristic of its Austrian terroir. The palate is a study in balance, offering a crisp, linear acidity that underscores flavors of green apple, lime zest, and subtle fennel. Mid-palate, the wine reveals a creamy texture, deftly juxtaposed with a refreshing minerality that carries through to a long, spicy finish. This Grüner Veltliner exemplifies the varietal's potential for complexity and finesse, making it a quintessential expression of the Wachau region's winemaking prowess.
